Three basic concepts in Numerology:

Often the date of birth plays a major rule in the science of Numerology. One can derive several numerological features from the date of birth. However, the most important (and most used) features is the concept of the ‘birth path number’.

Another major role is reserved for the birth name. One can derive various numerological features from the birth name as well. The most important numerological concepts related to the birth name are: the ‘name number’ and the ‘soul urge number’.

THE ‘BIRTH PATH NUMBER’

The calculation of the ‘birth path number’ is quite simple: you only need to sum the individual numbers in your birth date.

An example:

If a baby is born on october 19 2008, the ‘birth path number’ is:

10-19-2008 => 1+0+1+9+2+0+0+8 = 21 => 2+1 = 3;
Birth date ’10-19-2008′: 3 = birth path number

Note: Master numbers 11 (11, not 2) and 22 (22, not 4) stand alone and are not summed together.

THE ‘NAME NUMBER’

For the calculation of the ‘name number’, you can use the chart below. Each letter corresponds to number (according the principles of Pythagorean numerology). Then add all the numbers up, and “reduce” the sum to the final ‘name number': a single digit number.

An example:

If a baby is given the birth name: Maria Magdalena, the ‘name number’ is:

Maria Magdalena => 4+1+9+9+1 + 4+1+7+4+1+3+5+5+1 = 55 => 5+5 = 10 => 1+0 = 1;
Birth name: ‘Maria Magdalena': 1 = name number

THE ‘SOUL URGE NUMBER’

How to find the ‘soul urge number’? This number is made up from the vowels (a, e, i, o and u) in your full birth name. The sum of all of these vowel-letter, is converted to numbers: see the table below. And finally these vowel-numbers are reduced to a single number (or a master number): this is your ‘soul urge number’.

* The letter ‘Y’ is also treated as a vowel when there is no other vowel in a syllable (for example: Bryan or Madelyn) and when it is preceded by a vowel and sounded as one sound (for eg: Hayden). The letter ‘W’ is also treated as a vowel when it is preceeded by a vowel and produces a single sound (for example: Bradshaw).

An example:

If a baby is given the birth name: Maria Magdalena, the ‘soul urge number’ is:

Maria Magdalena => aiaaaea => 1+9+1+1+1+5+1 = 19 => 1+9 = 10 => 1+0 = 1;
Birth name ‘Maria Magdalena': 1 = soul urge number

What is Numerology?

Numerology can be described as: the study of numbers, and the occult manner in which the numbers reflect certain aptitudes and character tendencies, as an integral part of the cosmic plan

Often the date of birth and/or birth name (each letter has a numeric value) are being used in numerology.
This implicates that in theory the numbers can provide info related to: the character, life purpose, motivations, and talents. Experts in numerology use the numbers to search for the best time for major moves and activities in the life of a person.

Does it work? And how does Numerology work?

Numerology is an occult science (study). And a basic characteristic of the occult sciences is that one can not solid answer on these question. Do numbers have vibrations or something like that? Is it God’s work? Who knows? You just try to be objective and give it a try.
